Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is surgery to reshape the nose. It can make the nose larger or smaller; change the angle of the nose in relation to the upper lip; alter the tip of the nose; or correct bumps, indentations, or other defects in the nose.
During rhinoplasty The incisions are usually made inside the nose so that they are invisible after the surgery. Depending on the desired result, some bone and cartilage may be removed, or tissue may be added (either from another part of the body or using a synthetic filler). After the surgeon has rearranged and reshaped the bone and cartilage, the skin and tissue is redraped over the structure of the nose. A splint is placed outside the nose to support the new shape of the nose as it heals.

Rhinoplasty can change the size, shape, and angle of your nose and bring it into better proportion with the rest of your face.
Rhinoplasty may also correct structural problems with the nose that cause chronic congestion and breathing problems.

The results of rhinoplasty are permanent, although subsequent injury or other factors can alter the nose’s appearance. Cosmetic surgery should only be done on a fully developed nose. Complete development has usually occurred by age 15 or 16 in females and by age 17 or 18 in males. If surgery is done before this time, continued development of the nose can alter the surgical results and possibly cause complications.

In the open Method, nasal bone and cartilages are reshaped by making incisions from the lower part of the nasal tip. This technique is mostly preferred for second nose operations of patients who previously underwent rhinoplasty and did not achieve aesthetically and/or functionally satisfactory result. It can be performed in patient whose bone structures are more shapeless and who are not eligible for closed rhinoplasty.

Unlike a more traditional open rhinoplasty, closed rhinoplasty is typically used for reshaping the tip of the nose, shortening the nose, or getting rid of a bump or  dorsal hump . The ideal candidate’s nose would be symmetrical with the majority of the reshaping occurring on the bump or the tip.

DURATION:

The operative time may sometimes take 1.5 hours, but it may take 3 hours in surgeries in which we have to take cartilage from another area.

Recovery:

In direct proportion to the operative time of rhinoplasty, our patients are sometimes discharged on the same day and sometimes on the next day. It takes about 6 months-1 year to get the final shape of the nose.
